St. Cloud Apollo was in need of a large mechanical upgrade over two summers that included several new air handlers, replacement of all the boilers as well as the chiller, glycol units, swimming equipment, and almost all the facilities’ ductwork. One of the largest “Summer Slams” the state of Minnesota has endorsed, the project’s first summer checked in a just over $10M; almost $1M per week of equipment and manpower.
The project also included three second-floor additions to penthouses to handle much of the new air going into the building. The competitively bid project had many unique challenges, especially with fall protection. We are happy to report that the project was a huge success. For a portion of the project, there were just over 100 people working on the project per day. We were proud to get the swim team, football team, and all other fall activities back into school by the third week of August.
