Team Results

Riverview Hall, which originally opened in 1913, was the neighborhood elementary for St. Cloud’s historic South Side neighborhood until 1958. Teamed with Luken Architects, BCI was hired as the General Contractor for the project to oversee all the construction efforts in 2008 which was completed in 2009.

The project received upgrades totaling over $4.5M a lasted just over a year to rehabilitate. The project successfully brought the building into compliance with modern safety and accessibility codes, received heavy technology updates, and dealt with many historically obsolete practices of construction such as the use of lath & plaster, tuck-pointing & other masonry point work, original wood window restoration, restoration of original woodwork & floorings, and original door & some hardware restoration. The team even went so far as to re-create one (1) classroom exactly as it was in 1911.

After the completion of the historic rehabilitation, St. Cloud State’s Riverview Hall was one (1) of sixteen (16) projects awarded a Restoration/ Rehabilitation Award from the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota. Today, St. Cloud State University uses the facility as the Department of Communication Studies.
